Splash damage: non-penetrating AoE damage, usually half of the listed HE avg dmg with a reduction based on distance from epicenter of explosion (point of impact) and armor/spaced armor in the way I know this is not strictly a pure blitz question but I am strictly a blitz player so I thought I could start the thread here. And what is 'splash damage'? Does the impact of the shell cause something to happen inside the tank, without penetrating it? Or is the splash damage confined (absent penetration) to external parts of the tank like periscopes and such? Are some guns better for using HE than others and, if so, why? Muzzle velocity or something? What am I simulating when I fire an HE shell at a tank I cannot penetrate with AP and see the result, usually, that I caused some tiny amount of damage, expressed in a few hit points. When is it best to use it and what exactly does it represent when used? I put that badly.
